Toenail fungus treatment

toenail fungus

No one will argue with the fact that being sick of something is not a pleasant occupation. And when it comes to a fungal infection, there is nothing to be said about it, and it is clear that there is nothing good about it. The treatment of toenail fungus on the big toe is a long and time-consuming process, but it is still worth doing, the consequences and complications can be many times worse than the disease itself. The infection spreads to the entire limb or even the foot and creates major movement problems.

Toenail fungus is just one type of infection and can affect other parts of the feet as well: feet, other toes, and so on. According to statistics, about 25% of the world population sooner or later comes to the doctor with this infection. And if it also hurts, it definitely means it's time to treat the fungus on the legs.

But luckily there is a cure and it is not that difficult to cure the fungus permanently. There are so many ways of treatment that everyone, if they wish, can find a remedy that can cure their pathology in the leg.

Treatment of a fungus on the big toe is prescribed by a dermatologist after consultation with the patient. This takes into account the individual characteristics of the patient, in particular, his allergic reaction to any component of the drug. If there is one, then it is necessary to prescribe its analog and not to aggravate health.

How is this condition treated?

First of all, if a fungal infection is suspected, it is necessary to remove the infected area. Where is she? That's right - on the big toe, or where it hurts. It also happens that the severe stage of the fungus and the further course of the disease slow down and a removal operation is performed on the surface of the affected area. The treatment is prescribed by a specialized dermatologist and no one else.

To treat this infection, modern medicine has developed a wide variety of drugs, both for the nail itself and for the finger itself, as well as for the entire lower limb. These are not just pills - for the most part, not even them - but a variety of creams, ointments, paints for use on the legs and much more. To make the treatment as effective as possible, specialists mix these methods for toenail fungus treatment.

Treatment with folk remedies

What to do if your thumb hurts and you have not yet had time to see a dermatologist for a consultation? You need to drown the pain with at least something, you need improvised means, and traditional medicine can help you with this. Our ancestors have noticed the properties of some products for centuries, and their many years of experience is used by people to this day.

So what could it be?

  1. Potato peel. After peeling the potatoes, set the cleaned potatoes aside and take the skins. This recipe doesn't specify how much cleaning you need, so the more the better. They need to be placed in a saucepan (of large volume), filled with water and cooked until the peel is soft. It should be very soft so you can easily squeeze it directly into the pot. When the peel reaches this state, the infected feet and nail are soaked in the resulting liquid. Therefore, it is important that the pot is large. After smearing, it is necessary to wash the mass off the toe and foot, rub with pork fat and put on warm socks. This mass does not have an unpleasant smell and is easy to use on your feet - you need to rub them daily until you are completely sure that nothing is hurting you and that the infection will no longer bother you.
  2. 70% water + vinegar solution. As in the previous case, the exact amount of ingredients needed to cure a toenail fungal infection is not specified, there is only an instruction to take equal parts of both ingredients. The dough is infused on the finished mixture - of course, you need to be careful so that after that there is nothing left. The paste is placed on the affected nail and the surrounding area is sealed with masking tape. The procedure is done for three to five days, until the nail is completely separated from the finger. And if that doesn't happen, then you are doing something wrong.
  3. Lemon, whose juice is rich in various nutrients and nutrients, can also help against toenail fungus. From one lemon you need to cut a circle, then divide it into two parts and put one half on the nail. The compress is fixed, the lemon juice does its job. This treatment lasts from 8 to 10 days, depending on the results obtained.
  4. Poplar bark can be used as a foot bath, and your thumb will thank you for it. To do this, you need to grind the bark and take 100 grams of this bark for half a liter. All this is mixed and poured into a small basin, where the legs are steamed. Next, you need to prepare the following liquid for processing: 1 teaspoon of crushed (preferably household) soap is mixed with soda until a slurry is formed. Lubricate the affected nail and the entire finger as needed.
  5. Two cloves of garlic need to be minced to the maximum, after which they are mixed with heated butter in a volume of one hundred grams. The resulting liquid is infused for a day. It can be used to apply on the nail after water treatments. This method is good because it has been practiced for quite a long time - a whole month, although the treatment is carried out regularly, but the result will appear after seven days - the defeat of the nail will begin to recede. Nothing hurts and no new disputes appear.
  6. Sea salt can also be used for bathing: it dissolves in a liter of hot boiled water and the feet are steamed. If necessary, the salt concentration can be increased by calculating one tablespoon per liter of hot water. The main thing is not to overdo it and be as accurate as possible in the calculations. Such baths are carried out for two weeks, after which the result will be visible and the fungus will begin to recede.
  7. Mountain ash can only be found at certain times of the year (summer), but at the same time it is of great importance for the thumb, the nail of which is affected by infection. To carry out the treatment, the rowan leaves are crushed to form a gruel, which should be applied to the nail affected by the fungus. After ten days, you can stop this procedure.
  8. Some flowers that grow outdoors have a very rich layer of nutrients and minerals that nature has endowed them with. These are flowers such as chamomile and twine, which can be harvested to promote healing. Violet, which is more considered a houseplant, also belongs to the herbs that can be used to cure toenail fungus. The crushed flowers are mixed together and poured with a liter of boiled water. The liquid is infused for two hours and filtered. You can dip a piece of gauze into the dye and make a compress out of it, which needs to be changed every time the fabric dries.

It is possible to treat toenail fungus with the help of traditional medicine, but it is still best to consult a doctor. If the concentration is wrong, the liquid that is supposed to cure the disease, on the contrary, aggravates the problem. Therefore, it is extremely important to be registered with a practicing dermatologist, and if there is a desire, it is possible to consult with him about the treatment of the nail with folk remedies. The specialist will determine how useful they will be in your case and will make a reasonable conclusion.

Prophylaxis

The fungus on the big toe has an unpleasant feature that is inherent in any fungus on any part of the leg: it has the property of returning. Therefore, it is very important to choose the right preventive measures and to do everything to reduce the risk of a return. Even an intensive and combined treatment does not guarantee complete safety against toenail fungus.

First of all, when the patient is cured, it is necessary to disinfect the shoes. This will help remove spores that may have remained there during the course of the infection and could independently cause a foot fungus in the future.

It is very important to keep the feet in an atmosphere conducive to their healing. For example, keep them warm and, if possible, avoid crowded places where the infection can spread, such as swimming pools, gyms, and other places where a skin infection spreads with profuse sweating, mainly on the legs. The fungus is easily transmitted and those who have already had it are more likely to contract the infection than anyone else. Therefore, so that the treatment is not in vain, it is necessary to do everything possible.
